Jaguar used the recent Geneva Motor Show to show off its fastest kitten yet — the new F-Type SVR. While the base F-Type is plenty fast as it is sexy, this all-new variant is capable of reaching a staggering top speed of 200 miles per hour.
It’s been many years since Jaguar has offered a production vehicle capable of such speed. The 2017 F-Type SVR’s performance is made possible by a supercharged, 5.0-liter V8 delivering 575 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Power managed by an eight-speed automatic, which routes it to an all-wheel drive system to provide all-weather traction.
In addition to reaching fighter jet speeds, the F-Type SVR Coupe can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in a just 3.5 seconds. The droptop delivers only slightly more modest performance with a 186-mph top speed and a 3.9-second run to 60 mph.
Both coupe and convertible SVR models come with aggressive hood vents and massive air intakes in the front fascia. It even posts a carbon-fiber rear spoiler that automatically raises and lowered as needed, reducing the drag coefficient by as much as 2.5-percent.
SVR models also receive new 20-inch forged aluminum alloys wrapped in wider Pirelli PZero tires – 265s in front and 305s in the back – compared to 255/295 tires on the more demure R model. It will even receive a brand-new inconel titanium exhaust system, ensuring that even at idle the SVR will sound quite menacing.
Pricing for the 2017 F-Type Coupe starts at $126,945, while the convertible will go for $129,795 for the convertible. Deliveries will start later this year, but until then you can take a closer look at this stunning new cat below.
